Fieldcraft Games is delighted to announce Convoy Duty, an arcade-style game of escort command set in the Battle of the Atlantic. A free preview is playable in your browser right now, and a full release is coming to Steam.
What Convoy Duty is
Convoy Duty puts you in command of an Allied escort group. Your job is one clear responsibility: keep the merchant ships together, find the U-boats before they find the convoy, and bring as much cargo home as you can.
It is a compact game you can learn in minutes, more arcade game than full naval simulation. You range ahead to hunt, fall back to screen the convoy, manage limited weapons and decide how much danger a faster route is worth. The tension comes from what you cannot see: somewhere under that grey water, something is watching your merchantmen.
What the game offers
The free browser preview, currently at v0.3, is a real slice of the game rather than a cut-down demo, with keyboard, mouse and touch controls.

The vision
Convoy Duty is aiming to be the definitive pick-up-and-play Battle of the Atlantic game: the atmosphere and respect for history of a simulation, delivered at the pace of a game you can actually fit into an evening. Every convoy a story, every crossing a judgement call, every ship lost a name in your career log rather than a statistic.
The Atlantic campaign was won by unglamorous, repetitive, nerve-shredding work, and almost no games let you live it from the escort’s bridge. That is the gap Convoy Duty fills.
